What is telehealth physical therapy?
Telehealth is a form of remote patient care where patients and their healthcare providers, like PHYSICAL THERAPISTS, communicate through video (like FaceTime video or Skype) —allowing patients to receive PT services in the comfort and safety of their own homes.
What should I expect during the Telehealth PT sessions?
The Telehealth PT sessions will be a means of communication about how you are doing so far and what else you can be doing to improve your symptoms during this time. You and your PT will work together in order for you to be able to manage your condition. The therapist can go over home exercises, make some modifications, show you how a particular exercise or technique is done, make corrections, progress your treatment plan and answer your questions.
How long does a typical Telehealth PT session last? They are approximately 30 minutes.
What should I expect from my physical therapist during the Telehealth PT sessions? Your therapist will be asking you your preference. Some patients prefer to perform their exercises or task together with the PT. Other patients prefer their therapist to observe them as they perform the task or exercise so the therapist can make the necessary corrections.
Do I need extra space and special exercise equipment?
Your physical therapist will work with you with whatever you have at home. Many exercises can be performed using your own body weight. We can also be creative by using whatever is available at home like some household items. We will ensure that the sessions is still challenging and progressing to help you achieve your goals. Your PT can also help provide links to purchase equipment if necessary.
What equipment do I need to do Telehealth PT appointment?
You will need:
1) desktop or laptop computer or a mobile device (Apple or Android) like your cell phone
2)a stable internet connection.
What will be my copay/co-insurance for online, telehealth physical therapy? Most insurance companies have waived cost sharing during the Covid-19 pandemic. Give us a call or fill out our appointment request form and we will confirm.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, most insurance companies have agreed to cover 100% of the costs of online, telehealth physical therapy.
